The Charm of Minnesota lies in its Natural Beauty
by Laura Durso
It’s true that Minnesota is not the place many people would like to call home. It turns extremely cold in the winter due to its location on the northern edge of the continental United States. No wonder, the geographically large state of Minnesota does not even rank in the top twenty states in terms of population.
However, Minnesota is a great attraction for tourists, especially in summer. It is situated along the shores of Lake Superior and enjoys cool summer breezes in the summer months making it a perfect retreat for holidaymakers. They come here to visit the pristine landscape and the natural splendor of Minnesota.
But the people who come to visit the natural splendor that is Minnesota do not do so for theme parks or high class gambling venues. Persons choosing to spend their free time in Minnesota do so because they seek to escape the trials, stresses, and madness of the places that they live. For these people, the deep forests and pristine lakes offer a chance to escape back into a simpler time when a person had time to properly gather their thoughts.
To be certain, those vacationing in Minnesota almost have to possess a love of the outdoors in order to truly enjoy the experience. There are ample opportunities for hiking, biking, boating, and a host of other outdoor activities all across the great state.
You can go fishing, swimming, boating, and even water skiing, if it is permitted, in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The wilderness has more than a thousand lakes and is probably the most popular attraction for visitors to Minnesota looking for an outdoor adventure. However, motorized boats are not allowed on the lakes to maintain their pristine condition.
The lakes of Minnesota attract canoe enthusiasts from across the world. It’s quite a challenge and an adventure to navigate the lake bodies in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. There are also many campgrounds, lodges and resorts to cater to those not interested in canoeing but merely wanting to get away from the stressful city life.
The other big draw for vactioners is the wild life reserves and parks of Minnesota. These reserves are home to animals such as the eagles, bears, wolves, deer, moose and the crazy loons. It’s very easy to spot these animals on a visit to one of the reserves. To the serious wildlife enthusiast, there are deeper tracts of wilderness that surely have a richer collection of the flora and fauna.
However, if you are looking for ‘glitz and glamour’, then Minnesota is not the place for you. Its residents are true lovers of Nature and prefer to enjoy the splendor of the natural world. They have preserved the beauty of their state in its natural form. That is why we can visit this natural splendor and bring back memories that will last a lifetime.
